Case Study
1917 | Universal Pictures
A war nobody was asking about in a genre with historically limited reach. Our partnership with Universal Pictures focused on how to build intrigue in WWI and the story of 1917. In the words of its filmmaker Sam Mendes: “There is no better way to tell this story than with one continuous shot.”
Our creative strategy was to make war drama rejectors look twice with the film’s “one-shot” stylistic tactic. We brought the film’s unique one-shot style to life in hero material both big and small and built interest among fans in and outside the genre.
Our design for 1917’s industry-facing marketing materials brought our client’s vision to life: 1917 as a broadly appealing and resonant depiction of hope, friendship, and the race against time. This hero material ultimately set the tone, look and feel for the final campaign.
