Key Art

We wanted to keep the same premium fashion-focused lens that we established for Black Panther, while now introducing the new water adversary.

Our payoff poster shows the tension between the Wakandan culture and the Talokan culture, without painting either as good or bad. In fact, it’s meant to be able to be turned 180°, which hints at the resolution of the film. Our post-launch social poster revealed the next generation of Black Panther to keep the momentum in theaters after 3 weeks in theater.

AV

Our AV campaign leaned into the emotion the first film had earned, but strove to build up the level of swagger and attitude. Our spot for “Lift Me Up” introduced Rihanna’s original song for the film, now Oscar- and Golden Globe-nominated. “Legacy” paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman and built up the gravitas of the story and film in real life. And our “Feel It” spot used a matte-breaking device to show the film needed to be seen on the big screen.

Overall, we produced over a dozen spots to build excitement for the the theatrical release.

OOH

Finally, we designed bespoke out-of-home art, including dueling billboards and billboard extensions.
